Electric energy is actively used in life, on production and in transport, and all this thanks to work of electric current. It is brought to the consumer on wires from power plants.
Instruction
1. The word "current" means a current or the directed movement something. What moves in the wires going from power plants?
2. In atoms of bodies there are electrons possessing a negative charge which movement causes various physical and chemical phenomena. However a charge also larger particles of substance – ions can possess. And all these charged particles can move in wires. The ordered, directed their movement is called electric current.
3. For receiving electric current in the conductor it is necessary to create in it electric field. Under the influence of the field the charged particles capable to move freely, start moving in the direction of influence of electric forces. So there is electric current.
4. For long existence of electric current in the conductor it is necessary to maintain constantly in it electric field. For creation and maintenance of the field use sources of electric current.
5. In a source of current, work on division of heteronymic charges – positive and negative is made. They collect on different poles of a source. Terminals or clips connect conductors to poles: one to a positive pole, another – to negative. And at short circuit of a chain (connection of conductors among themselves) free charged particles begin to move in a certain direction.
