How to calculate maneuverability coefficient

How to calculate maneuverability coefficient

It is possible to draw a conclusion on financial stability of the enterprise, knowing about degree of its dependence on borrowed funds, about an opportunity to maneuver equity. This information is important for owners of the company, her investors and also contractors (buyers of finished goods and suppliers of raw materials).

Instruction

1. In the analysis of financial stability you can calculate coefficient of maneuverability of equity. It characterizes a share of sources of own enterprise assets which are in a mobile form. The coefficient of maneuverability shows what part own working capitalof busy in a turn and what is capitalized. At the same time the working capital which is in a mobile form, the enterprise can freely maneuver.

2. For calculation of coefficient of maneuverability use the following formula: Km = COC/CK, gdesos – own current assets; SK – equity. In other words, the coefficient of maneuverability represents the relation of own working capital of the enterprise to own sources of financing of its activity. The recommended value for this indicator - 0.5 and above. Its size depends on a type of activity of the enterprise. In capital productive productions its normal level, as a rule, is lower, than in material-intensive.

3. You can see equity size in the III section of a passive of the balance sheet. As for the volume of own current assets, it is rated size. You can find it one of sleduyushchikhsposob: 1) SOS = SK are VA, gdesk – equity of the enterprise; VA are non-current assets.2) SOS = OA – TO, a gdeoa – current assets; TO – short-term obligations of the enterprise. This indicator characterizes an equity share which goes for financing of its current activity (formation of the current assets).

4. You have to consider that in dynamics the coefficient of maneuverability has to increase. However its sharp growth is not the evidence of normal development of the enterprise. It is connected with the fact that increase in this coefficient is possible with a growth of own working capital or at decrease in own sources of the enterprise. So, sharp increase in this indicator will automatically cause reduction of others, for example, of autonomy coefficient that demonstrates strengthening of dependence of the enterprise on creditors.
