For planting of certain plants and cultures it is necessary to know acidity of the soil, but the analysis of the soil in laboratory gives information on acidity to the tenth shares that the ordinary gardener should not know. You quite will suit the approximate analysis of the soil. If you remember chemistry lessons at school, then in experiments which were made at these lessons, as the indicator used a litmus piece of paper.

Instruction
1. For determination of acidity of the soil, first of all, it is necessary to dig out a small hole which in depth will not exceed 25 cm. From any vertical wall of this hole take a small cut of the soil. This soil needs to be mixed and also to moisten with water (rain or distilled). After formation of the crude earth, put a litmus piece of paper inside and squeeze this earth a hand.
2. As a result, you will have chemical reaction as the earth was not dry, but wet. Your indicator has to give a certain color: - green color speaks about neutral acidity; - yellow color speaks about light acidity; - pink color speaks about average acidity; - red color speaks about high acidity.
3. If you do not know about existence of such indicator or you just do not have it, it is possible to use easier way: take a standard bottle which is used in dairy kitchens. Fill up the dry earth before the second division from below, fill a bottle with water before the fifth division from below, add a half of a teaspoon of the crushed chalk.
4. Put on the twisted children's pacifier a neck, later a short period of time it begins to be untwisted, but its edges stick to each other. Stir up a small bottle within 3-5 minutes. If the soil was sour, then the pacifier completely will become straight and will be mumpish, the average value of acidity will open a pacifier only half, the weak acidity will not allow a pacifier to become straight.
