At many schools it is accepted to check technology of reading school students from time to time. The child is given the text which needs to be read within one minute, and then when time expires, the quantity of the read words is counted. Skills of reading are formed constantly therefore at least two times a year are important to check technology of reading. So, to check ability of the child to read texts, you need to know norms of reading.
Instruction
1. The first class.I half-year – conscious, correct and smooth reading with accurate pronunciation of syllables and words. The school student has to read at least 20-25 words a minute.II half-year – the correct reading integral words. Compound words can be read on syllables. Rate of reading – is not less than 35 - 40 words in a minute.
2. The second class.I half-year – reading words with observance of accents. Words with complex syllabic structure can be spelled. Rate of reading – not less than 45 - 50 words.II half-year – intelligent, measured reading by the whole words, observing logical accents, pauses and intonations. The school student needs to read not less than 60 words.
3. The third class.I half-year – conscious, correct reading the whole words. The child has to observe intonation and pauses by means of which he shows understanding of meaning of a readable fragment. Rate of reading – 60-70 words.II half-year – the School student has to be able to retell sense, the read text. It is not less than 75 number of words.
4. The fourth (Fifth) class.I half-year – the Pupil has to not only understand meaning of the text, but also transfer the relation to contents. Rate of reading – 75-80 words a minute.II half-year – Faultless, intelligent reading the text with observance of pauses, accents, intonations. The necessary number of words – 95-100.
