The average value is one of characteristics of set of numbers. Represents number which cannot exceed the limit of the range determined by the greatest and the smallest values in this set of numbers. An arithmetic average value - the most often used kind of averages.
Instruction
1. Put all numbers of a set and divide them into quantity composed to receive an arithmetic average value. Depending on specific conditions of calculation it is sometimes simpler to divide each of numbers into amount of values of a set and to summarize result.
2. Use, for example, the calculator entering in structure of Windows OS if the value in mind is not possible to calculate an arithmetic average. It is possible to open it by means of dialogue of start of programs. For this purpose press WIN "hot keys" + R or click the Start-up button and choose the Execute command in the main menu. Then print in the entry field of calc and press on the Enter keyboard or click the OK button. Same it is possible to make through the main menu - open it, pass into the section "All Programs" and into the sections "Standard" and choose the line "Calculator".
3. Enter consistently all numbers of a set, pressing on the keyboard after each of them (except the last) the Plus key or clicking the corresponding button in the interface of the calculator. It is possible to enter numbers too as from the keyboard, and clicking the corresponding buttons of the interface.
4. Press a key with a virgule (slash) or click this badge in the interface of the calculator after input of the last value of a set and print quantity of numbers in the sequence. Then press an equal-sign, and the calculator will calculate and the value will show an arithmetic average.
5. It is possible for the same purpose to use the tabular editor of Microsoft Excel. In this case start the editor and enter all values of the sequence of numbers into the next cells. If after input of each number you press Enter or a key with an arrow down or to the right, then the editor himself will move input focus to the next cell.
6. Mark out all entered values and in the left bottom corner of a window of the editor (in a status bar) you will see arithmetic-mean value for the allocated cells.
7. Click the cell following the last entered number if to you the value is only not enough to see an arithmetic average. Open a drop-down list with the image of the Greek letter sigma (Σ) in group of the Editing teams on the Main tab. Choose in it the line "Average" and the editor will insert the necessary formula for calculation of arithmetic-mean value into the allocated cell. Press the Enter key, and the value will be calculated.
