How to determine Ampere force

Ampere force affects the conductor with current in magnetic field. It can be measured directly by means of a dynamometer. For this purpose attach a dynamometer to the conductor moving under the influence of Ampere force and counterbalance with it Ampere force. To calculate this force, measure current in the conductor, induction of magnetic field and length of the conductor.

Instruction

1. Direct measurement of Ampere force. Collect a chain so that she became isolated the cylindrical conductor which can freely slide on two parallel conductors, closing them, practically without the mechanical resistance (friction force). Between these conductors establish a horseshoe magnet. Connect a current source to a chain, and the cylindrical conductor will begin to slide on parallel conductors. Attach a sensitive dynamometer to this conductor, and you will measure value of the Ampere force operating on the conductor with current in magnetic field in Newtons.

2. Calculation of Ampere force. Collect the same chain what was described in the previous point. Learn induction of magnetic field in which there is a conductor. For this purpose bring the sensor of a teslametr between parallel strips of a permanent magnet and take readings from it in teslas. Turn on in a collected chain the ampermeter consistently. By means of a ruler measure length of the cylindrical conductor in meters. Connect a collected chain to a current source, learn current in it, using the ampermeter. You perform measurements in amperes. To calculate value of Ampere force, find the work of values of induction of magnetic field on the current and length of the conductor (F=B•I•l). In case between the directions of current and magnetic induction the corner is not equal 90º, measure it and increase result by a sine of this corner.

3. Definition of the direction of Ampere force. Find the direction of Ampere force by the rule of the left hand. For this purpose place the left hand so that lines of magnetic induction were included into a palm, and four fingers showed the direction of the movement of electric current (from a source, positive to a negative pole). Then the thumb which is set aside on 90º will show the direction of action of Ampere force.
