The statistical set consists of a set of the elements similar in character, type and having uniform qualities. Population is necessary for carrying out statistical researches.
Instruction
1. Define sign which has the greatest value when carrying out a research. Signs can be a little. The more their quantity, the less will be population. This set represents hypothetically possible set of subjects to observation. For example, if you need to conduct a research among men, population will be huge. In case of carrying out researches among men of certain age, it will decrease. When you add one more necessary essential sign - the man has to be not only the necessary age, but also be engaged in a certain type of activity, it will be reduced once again. So, with addition of each new sign the population will become less.
2. Consider all signs determined by you as the most important for an object, and define population for your research. Carry out sample of it, that is allocate from set objects in quantity, acceptable for the analysis, with an accidental method. Make necessary calculations and on the basis of the received figures draw conclusions. If population was defined truly, results of a research will be most exact and useful. Otherwise, it is necessary to find a mistake and to reconsider population.
3. Study signs which had to contain population objects. Making a start from a research objective, reconsider them and find missing. On new signs find new population and repeat calculations. You will be able to reuse the received search results of population at a new research if the amount of essential signs coincides completely. If it is required to find set with the same signs, excepting one or more, you will also be able to use these data, having carried out necessary adjustment.
