1. Use the ordinary tools intended for measurement of length. It is easiest way to find the midpoint. Measure by a ruler or a roulette piece length, halve the received value and measure the received result from one of the ends of a piece. You receive the point corresponding to the midpoint.
2. There is more exact way of finding of the midpoint known from a course of school geometry. For this purpose take compasses and a ruler, and any subject of suitable length with the flat party can replace a ruler.
3. Establish distance between compasses legs so that it was equal to length of a piece or big, than a half of a piece. Then put a compasses needle in one of the ends of a piece and carry out a semi-circle so that it crossed a piece. Rearrange a needle in other end of a piece and, without changing scope of legs of compasses, carry out the second semi-circle in precisely the same way.
4. You received two points of intersection of semi-circles on both sides from a piece which middle we want to find. Connect these two points by means of a ruler or equal bar. The connecting line will pass in accuracy in the middle of a piece.
5. If near at hand there were no compasses or piece length significantly exceeds admissible scope of his legs, it is possible to use simple adaptation from make-shifts. It is possible to make it of a usual pin, a thread and a pencil. Tie the ends of a thread to a pin and a pencil, at the same time length of a thread has to exceed piece length a little.
