Such physical device as the camera obscura (in the literal translation from Latin - the dark room), was known to mankind long before the invention of the photo. By means of this device, without having art skills at all, it is possible to sketch precisely manually motionless objects. For a long time the camera obscura was considered as a toy, a scientific funny thing. In the nineteenth century with the invention of photosensitive materials the camera obscura formed a basis for the first cameras. Already in the twentieth century the camera obscura found two new ""professions"": definition from Earth of speed of the flying by military aircraft and entertainment of tourists.

- Thin-walled wooden box sizes about 40х30х30 cm
- Electrofret saw
- Drill screw gun, bits and drill
- Square mirror which is located in a box
- Sheet of plexiglas
- Self-tapping screws
- Black paint
Instruction
1. Paint a box from within in black color and let's paint dry.
2. In the center of a sidewall of a box, according to the drawing, drill an opening diameter in several millimeters. It should not have the rough edges capable to worsen quality of the image. This opening will serve as a bezlinzovy lens. A lack of such lens is the small svetosila, advantage - the considerable depth of sharpness.
3. In the top wall of a box, in the place shown in the same drawing cut out the electrofret saw a rectangular opening. Close it the screen which is cut out from the sheet of plexiglas. If the camera obscura is used only for observation of images, the screen has to be opaque. In case the camera intends for creation of sketches, the screen should be made transparent as the sheets of paper imposed on it will be opaque. Drill in the screen four openings on corners then through them fix the screen by self-tapping screws on a box.
4. Again being guided by the same drawing, establish under the screen a mirror at an angle in 45 degrees. Strongly fix it in any way.
5. On sunny day go outside and direct the camera obscura a lens to a landscape which image you want to receive. If the screen at the camera transparent, put on it the sheet of thin paper then, without shifting it, make a sketch. It is possible to use the camera obscura also at home if to light an object with a bright lamp.
