How to write down rational expression of concentration of solution

How to write down rational expression of concentration of solution

There are three most popular ways to rationally express concentration: through a mass fraction, molar concentration and a molar share. For rational expression of concentration of saturated solution use also solubility and coefficient of solubility.

Instruction

1. Mass dolyachtoba to find the mass fraction of substance designated ω, divide the mass of the dissolved substance into solution lump. Thereby, you receive the dimensionless size showing what part from all mass of solution is occupied by the concrete dissolved substance. If you want to receive result as a percentage, a domnozhta the received number on 100%.ω (X) = m (X)/m (X) + m(S) = m (X)/m where m(X) is the mass of the dissolved substance (g), m(S) is the mass of solvent (g), m = [m(X) + m(S)] there is a solution lump.

2. Molar koncentratsiyachtoba to find molar concentration (molarity) of any substance in solution designated by letter C, divide amount of this dissolved substance (number of his moths) into the volume of the set solution. Volume has to be set in liters. Receive the size expressed in mol/l. It will show amount of the dissolved substance in 1 liter of solution.C (X) = ν (X)/V where C (X) - molar concentration, ν (X) - amount of the dissolved substance (mol), V - the volume of solution (l).

3. Molar dolyachtoba to find the molar share of some substance in solution designated by letter N, divide number of moths of the given substance into number of moths of all solution. Receive the dimensionless size showing what part it is substance occupies from all amount of substance of your solution. The molar share can also be written down as a percentage, having multiplied result for 100%. N(X) = ν (X)/ν (X) + ν(S) where N(X) is a molar share of the dissolved substance, ν (X) - amount of the dissolved substance (mol), ν(S) - amount of solvent (mol). Follows from definition of a molar share that the sum of a molar share of the dissolved substance and a molar share of solvent is equal 1 (100%): N(X) + N(S) = 1.

4. Concentration of any saturated solution is quite often expressed also through such concept as solubility coefficient. To find coefficient of solubility of substance, divide the mass of the substance forming saturated solution into the mass of solvent. It is necessary to consider that the saturation of solution is influenced by temperature therefore the numerical value of coefficient of solubility for different temperatures can be various. k(s) = m (substance) / m (solvent).
