XIX and the beginning of the 20th century remained in the history an era of considerable technical opening. Nikola Tesla whose opening changed everyday life of people was one of the greatest inventors of that time.
Tesla transformer
At the beginning of the career Nikola Tesla actively cooperated with Edison and along with him dealt with a problem of transfer of electric current. Use of alternating current - the current changing on force and the direction within one electrical circuit became the most important opening of Tesla. The scientist understood advantages of this type of current before constant which was used in Edison's inventions. Alternating current was easier to be transferred to distance, keeping its power. Tesla's transformer - a prototype of modern devices of the corresponding appointment was developed for transfer of such current.
The fate of an invention was difficult. Edison in every possible way defended advantages of a direct current. Alternating current began to expand the field of use only at the beginning of the 20th century. Now in most cases in household power supply networks alternating current moves.
Except the transformer, Tesla patented also a way of transfer of alternating current.
Tesla and Edison's opposition became history as war of currents. The conflict was the sharpest in the territory of the USA.
Multiphase electrical machine
In the eighties the 19th century Nikola Tesla made important discovery in physics - it described effect of rotation of magnetic fields. Thanks to it he in 1888 could create the multiphase electric motor. Such system was more economic, than the previous models. 10 years later after creation the engine was already used at construction of hydroelectric power stations. Later taking into account the same principle of rotation of magnetic fields of Tesl created also the turbine which could be used in mechanical engineering and production of electricity.
The principles of designing of the electric motor underlain by Tesla still are used in production of electrical machines.
Contribution to creation of radio
The famous inventor used the talent and for development of technology of a radio communication. Originally Tesla found the high-frequency radiation of the generator making alternating current. It became clear that such action of current can be used for information transfer. Nikola Tesla patented the method of transfer of waves and the first radio antenna, however other scientists were already engaged in development of model of the radio receiver. Also Tesla opened one more way of use of radio waves - for management of objects at distance. In 1896 he for the first time showed to public radio-controlled model of the ship.
