Ecological system – the phenomenon unstable: types of living organisms constantly change, appear and disappear for a set of various reasons. But from the moment of emergence on Earth of the person one more was added to these reasons – human activity. It caused disappearance already of dozens of different types of animals.
Research of the died-out animals
It is impossible to tell precisely how many types disappeared from a face of the planet because of the person. Representatives of the human race took the predominating place in the nature already several dozen millennia ago, in prehistoric times, and scientists cannot tell what types could suffer from their activity at that time. It is more or less precisely possible to judge influence of the person on a condition of an ecological system since 1500: approximately from now on it is possible to speak about reliability of existence of any given organisms which already died out as observations of scientists remained. According to researches, the list of the disappeared animals since the beginning of the 16th century makes 884 views, from them several dozen stopped the existence because of the person.
The disappeared animal species
In 1741 the zoologist Steller opened a new species of a marine animal – a sea cow from group of a siren which was called subsequently by Stellerova in his honor. Only thirty years after this event this large mammals needed to live: in 1768 they were exterminated for the sake of nutritious and tasty meat.
Dodos – some of the most known died-out beings on the planet. These not flying birds lived on the island of Mauritius and more did not meet anywhere (perhaps, on the next islands of Renyon and Rodriguez). In 1598 the Dutch seafarers saw these animals the first of Europeans. They began to develop the island, naturalists studied the building and behavior of large birds at this time therefore there was many evidence of existence of dodos or Dodo as they were called by colonists. But arrival of Europeans became the reason of fast extinction of species: cats, the dogs and other animals who arrived together with people to the island began to ruin nests. People did not lag behind too: meat of birds was tasty, and hunting did not make big work – dodos were not able to fly and did not resist. In 1761 the representative of this look died consequences. The person laid a hand and to disappearance of zebras of an African type – kvagg. This animal was tamed and was used for protection of herds. Their skins were considered as valuable, and killed wild representatives of a look for the sake of profit. In 1878 the last wild kvagga was killed, and the last tamed animal of this look died in a zoo in 1883. Natives of New Zealand gradually exterminated giant birds of Moa who reminded ostriches and several hundreds of kilograms weighed. It happened till 1500, but about the Elephant bird as she was called by locals, there were many certificates. Also there are data that they were noticed in the 19th century. But today the look is considered disappeared. The person exterminated also such types as the Falkland fox, a tasmaniysky marsupial the wolf, the Chinese river dolphin who (presumably disappeared), a wingless auk, the wandering pigeon.
