What color white light

White light represents the optical radiation which cornerstone the complex spectral structure familiar to the person on such phenomenon as a rainbow is. White light is a mix of several monochromatic flowers: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, blue and violet. It can be confirmed with light dispersion, that is its decomposition on components.

What is light?

According to physics, light by the nature elektromagniten, that is represents mix of several electromagnetic waves which, in turn, are the fluctuations extending in space magnetic and electric water. The person perceives light as conscious visual feeling. And for monochromatic (simple) radiation color is defined by light frequency, and for difficult – the spectral structure.

"White light"

Sees the world of people when looks at the Sun, at the sky, at bright electric lamps. That is, this light can be both natural, and artificially created. Scientists long time studied this type of light and found quite interesting circumstances. From a school course in physics much know that light can be spread out to the color strips called a range. For this purpose it is necessary to put a special glass prism which at the exit will transform one colourless beam to a set of multi-colored on the way of a ray of sunlight.

That is, if initially before the person there was one beam of sunlight, after transformation it was divided into 7 spectral flowers familiar to much of the children's counting rhyme about a rainbow. "Each hunter wishes to know …".

These seven flowers are also the cornerstone of white light. And as visible radiation is actually electromagnetic wave, the transformations of a beam received later color strips are electromagnetic waves too, but already absolutely new. White color is the strongest of all flowers seen to the person, contrary to black which turns out at absolute lack of a light stream in this place. That is, if white light is born from the sum of all flowers, in besproglyadny darkness of any color is not present at all.

Newton's experiment

Isaac Newton was the first person who scientifically proved division of a beam of white light into 7 primary colors. He made experiment which consisted in the following. On the way of a narrow bunch of sunlight which got into the dark room through an opening in a window shutter Newton put a trihedral prism. Passing through glass, the beam refracted and gave on an opposite wall the extended image with iridescent alternation of flowers which Newton counted seven. Later these seven flowers were called a range. And process of division of a light beam began to be called dispersion. The phenomenon of dispersion became the first step to understanding of bases and the nature of color. Depth of understanding of dispersion came after the dependence of color on frequency (or lengths) a light wave was found out.
