What is fundamental sciences

There are theoretical, experimental and applied areas of knowledge in which the basic principles of scientific comprehension of reality are used. Development of the theory and production of experiments make the base of science and promote accumulation of the data suitable for practical and applied use.

Instruction

1. Understand theoretical researches and pilot studies as fundamental science in various spheres of scientific activity. Its purpose is identification of the most general regularities peculiar to the reality phenomena. The fundamental science is responsible for development of the principles of both natural science, and humanitarian disciplines. In its framework basic theoretical concepts which become the base for applied researches are developed.

2. The purpose of fundamental science is not immediate implementation of the revealed principles and regularities in practice. In it its main difference from applied science. However concrete results of basic researches very often find utilitarian application, influencing practical use of the revealed regularities. At the heart of almost all opening and technology solutions knowledge gained within fundamental science lies.

3. Initially the natural sciences were area of interests of basic researches. Sciences about the nature substantially depended on the theoretical constructions explaining the numerous facts which are saved up by scientists. Now fundamental researches everything are more displaced towards humanitarian disciplines. Here too generalizations and development of the basic scientific principles are required.

4. The main function of fundamental science – gnoseological, that is informative. During the similar researches, ideas of laws of the nature and society which have universal character are developed. Traditionally refer spatial and temporary community of the conducted researches and also existence of a certain methodological concept to essential signs of fundamental science.

5. Between fundamental science and applied areas of knowledge there is no insuperable wall. During the solution of fundamental scientific problems there is an opening of new methods of the solution of applied tasks. Therefore the fundamental science has also a certain practical applicability. For example, conclusions of theoretical physics are widely applied in creation of new technologies.

6. The main role in support of fundamental science is played by the state. It is connected with the fact that results of similar researches most often are not profitable and cannot be directly applied in practical and economic activity, and therefore need target financing.
