What is the electroplated coating

Modern electroplated coating not only gives to a product effective appearance. Application as an electrodeposit of copper, chrome, nickel gives the chance to protect details from corrosion, and silvering and gilding plus to it, is widely used at production of radio-electronic components.

Electroplated coating represents the metal thin film applied on a surface with electrolytic precipitation. Thickness of a galvanic film can be from micrometer shares to the tenth parts of millimeter. For today several types of electroplated coatings are widespread.

Galvanizing and cadmium plating

Both zinc, and cadmium are the chemical elements which are well resisting to electrochemical corrosion. Process of protection happens thanks to own corrosion of zinc and cadmium. Level of security of metal from corrosion (more often it is steel) is directly connected with thickness of a covering or its weight. Galvanizing is one of the most effective and at the same time economic ways of protection of material against corrosion.

Nickel plating

Means drawing on a product, a steel or its alloys detail (generally with "participation" of copper, aluminum, zinc), a galvanic film in 1-50 microns. There are methods of nickel plating and nonmetallic products; it can be porcelain, plastic, ceramics, glass. Usually nickel plating pursues three aims: - protection of material against corrosive processes (including and connected with chemical influence); - giving of wear resistance; - formation of decorative shape of a product (velors nickel plating). Coppering

This drawing a copper layer on steel (sometimes zinc) products. Coppering is applied to a protection of sites from carburizing (or cementations). Here copper performs function of the defender of a part of a product from diffusion in it of carbon, - process of penetration into metal of carbon does not allow to cut a detail because of the created firm blankets. One more scope of coppering – formation of an intermediate layer at chromium plating.

Silvering and gilding

Silvering is made not only in the decorative purposes. Cover with it the equipment of the food industry for giving of antibacterial properties to surfaces, working surfaces of searchlights, automobile headlights, other lamps for increase in their reflecting ability. Methods of silvering, gilding it is used in electronic industry. Gilding of products allows not only to give effective appearance to a product or a roofing covering, but also to preserve it for 100-150 years.
