What value at plants in the nature

Thanks to photosynthesis the green plants play very important role in life on Earth. They will transform energy of sunlight and accumulate it in the form of organic compounds. As a photosynthesis by-product in the atmosphere oxygen is emitted.

Life on the planet depends on the Sun. Photosynthesizing green leaves of plants perceive and accumulate energy of sunshine.

What is photosynthesis

Photosynthesis represents process of creation on light of organic matter from inorganic. During this process the solar energy turns into energy of chemical bonds. The carbohydrates, proteins and fats reserved in cages of green plants provide activity of all living beings on Earth.

Sugar – the main product of photosynthesis

The most important product of photosynthesis is the sugar produced in the nature by billions of tons annually. Starch and various sugars contains a lot of energy. Thus, in accumulation of organic weight and storage of the energy concluded in organic matter the main function of plants in the nature consists.

Constant absorption and accumulation of energy of sunlight by green plants increases the general level of energy in the biosphere. The energy which is once reserved in cages of plants actively is used by the person at combustion of wood, oil, gas and coal.

Photosynthesis by-product – oxygen

Oxygen – a photosynthesis by-product – occupies 21% of volume of air now. Annually it comes to the atmosphere in number of 70-120 billion tons. Thanks to it animals (including the person), bacteria, mushrooms and plants can breathe and carry out activity processes. At the height of 25 km over the Earth's surface ozone is formed of oxygen under the influence of solar radiation. The ozone screen detains those ultraviolet rays which are capable to destroy living cells and perniciously influence organisms.

Level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere of Earth

0.03% of volume of air in the terrestrial atmosphere are made by carbon dioxide. It is formed in the course of breath, during the rotting and decomposition of dead bodies, during the fires, eruptions of volcanoes, at combustion of fuel. The huge amount of carbon dioxide is absorbed by green plants thanks to what CO2 level in the atmosphere of Earth remains to constants.

Formation of the soil

Living beings consume organic matter of green plants. Waste of their activity gets on the earth's surface, decays and forms the soil. Its fertility depends on contents in the soil of organic matter – a humus.
