Lubricant of cross-country skis – the true art demanding experience and skill. Results of the athlete on competitions directly depend on quality of putting ski ointment. But before lubricant of the ski it is necessary to prepare as appropriate. And it is necessary to begin with send-off of old ski ointment.

- - plastic scraper;
- - solvent (turpentine);
- - remover for ointment;
- - clean rags.
Instruction
1. The way of send-off of ski ointment from the sliding surface depends on the type of skis and the used lubricant. Define from what skis you will delete lubricant – from wooden or plastic as for them there are types of special removers, different on structure. The greatest distribution was received today by skis with the plastic covering for which lubricant it can be used both traditional ski ointment, and various paraffin.
2. Prepare necessary tools and materials. You need the plastic scraper, turpentine, the soft clean rag, special removers for ointment in the form of aerosol or paste. If there is the opportunity, use the machine for the binding of skis or the vice.
3. Take one ski and fix it in the machine by the sliding surface up. Usual table vises or the table supplied with the clamp will approach. In the absence of such devices you should hold the ski, having set it, for example, "heel" against the joint between the floor and the wall.
4. Use special aerosol or pastelike solvent (remover) for send-off of old ointment. Make sure thatMake sure that the remover is suitable for the covering of skis of this type. Apply means on the sliding surface, being guided by the application instruction. After putting solvent wait 2-3 minutes before undertaking the scraper.
5. By means of the special plastic scraper begin to delete residues of former lubricant with the sliding surface. At the same time it is recommended to make careful movements from the front part of the ski to back. For convenience conditionally divide all processed surface into three-four sites, consistently passing each of them. Clean the particles of the removed ointment (paraffin) which are formed on the surface with the rag. Such way will allow to remove old ointment and paraffin.
6. After machining take the clean rag, moisten it in turpentine and wipe the sliding surface with pressing, deleting residues of lubricant. If necessary repeat the procedure two-three times.
7. Do similar operations with the second ski. After full processing carefully wipe the surface of skis with the dry rag. Now your stock is ready to receive the new lubricant corresponding to weather.
