is the picturesque and picturesque Ukrainian city located in Poltava region on the Horol River – where other Likhobabovka River flows into it. In comparison with other cities of Ukraine, Myrgorod rather young – is considered that it was founded at the end of the XVI century – however it does not belittle its importance both for Ukrainians, and for city visitors. The fact is that, besides magnificent architecture, existence of historical sights and many other that can be seen here, Myrgorod is the large hydropathic resort where there is a set of institutions of balneological orientation and where annually there come many people to restore the health and to undergo prevention of an organism. Partly, Myrgorod is capable to compete to such resorts as the well-known Baden-Baden and Karlovy Vary. But it is necessary to tell about everything one after another.
So, Myrgorod – is rather young. At least, in comparison with such Ukrainian cities as Kamyanets-Podilsky, ancient Tustan and, of course, Kiev – it really is very young city. However Myrgorod presented to the world a number of outstanding people among whom it is necessary to mention the famous artist Vladimir Borovikovsky and, of course, Nikolay Vasilyevich of Gogol. The famous writer was born in the village Great Sorochintsa that is near the city. Many scenes from works by this classic, life and tenor of life of the Ukrainian citizens and peasants, were written off from everyday life of Myrgorod and its vicinities. Here, literally in fifteen kilometers, also other village – Gogolevo – is located where there passed the writer's childhood. Who does not know about the Sorochinsk fair? Today it is held annually near Myrgorod, in the homeland of Gogol.
The great value to the city is attached by the curative sources concentrated in this area. At the beginning of the XX century, shortly before the revolution, the first balneary where residents at that time still of the Russian Empire gathered was open here. Later there was a full-fledged resort focused on water procedures and therapy by means of mineral water. Revolution, civil war and, later, and the German occupation could not break this beginning, and today the large plant processing mineral water works in the city. There is here also a balneological resort where treat by means of curative dirt, and seven various sanatoria which are annually accepting a large number of vacationers. Myrgorod is really real health resort of local value.
The resort area differs in beauty and existence of all conveniences to vacationers. Here really very beautiful sanatorium cases, accurate lawns, green plantings, avenues, fountains are presented, and it is a lot of another, capable to create the atmosphere of good rest. Here pleasantly not only it is treated, but also just to spend time, walking on avenues of the resort area.
And still, far not only treatment attracts visitors to Myrgorod. The important value plays here as it was already told, Nikolay Vasilyevich's heritage of Gogol. At the end of the 19th century the art school of a name of this writer evolving further in ceramic technical school was open here. Today here make art ceramics which samples are famous not only across all Ukraine, but also it is far beyond its limits. By the way, to look personally and it is even possible to get separate products at that Sorochinsk fair that is carried out every year in the second half of August.
The name of the writer carries also one of the Mirgorod sanatoria. There, in its territory, it is possible to see a monument to the glorified Russian-Ukrainian classic. And it is not only! One more monument is on the city square, and in general, a lot of things in the city are connected with life and Gogol's creativity. But also it – not one among those who should be mentioned and whose life was anyway connected with the city. The Georgian poet Guramishvili lived and wrote some time here, writers Mirnyi, Dimarov, the artist Leontovsky worked here. Obviously, the atmosphere of this city induced people on creativity, and there is no wonder, Myrgorod is a typical example of sedate, patriarchal Ukraine with its rich traditions and cultural heritage.
Therefore, among sights of Myrgorod it is possible to emphasize several monuments and the museums devoted to his famous natives or creative figures, ever here living. In particular, it is the memorial museum of the poet Guramishvili where it is possible to get acquainted with a course of life of this outstanding person. However and all the rest in Myrgorod literally attracts all eyes. So, already mentioned ceramic technical school is an example of high architecture, being evident the attractive appearance. It is revetted with the graceful panels of delicate work reminding products of the skillful masters who left its walls.
Deserve attention as well parks, and a so-called Mirgorod pool – the reservoir surrounded with greens. Accepting in view of that moment that many city visitors come here to treatment, all this as well as possible promotes improvement of an organism, walks in the fresh air in silence of green plantings more, than positively influence any organism.
Myrgorod and from the point of view of people of believers is remarkable. There are many ancient churches which are interesting and as the important centers of Orthodoxy, and as historical monuments.
