Exact date of the basis of Skadovsk to call heavy: some sources assure that there was it in 1891, in Brockhaus and Efron's encyclopedia it is about 1893. Also it would be possible to argue about it for a long time if the founder – the aristocrat Sergey Skadovsky – did not appoint at the time date of celebration. In 1904 the decade of foundation of the city was celebrated, but the status and the name Skadovsk received a little later. Official date of recognition of the city – January 2, 1986. The Vokrug Sveta magazine of those times wrote that the port of the new town of Skadovsk is visited by the foreign ships and thus the city does business Europe. In Paris on S. Skadovsky's money the beacon was built and established on the island of Dzharylgach. And between Skadovsky and Odessa passenger ships plied.
