1. Before buying a crab in pet-shop, it is necessary to choose for him the most suitable house. The usual aquarium, i.e. a room reservoir without sushi, will not approach. For keeping of crabs in house conditions the special aquaterrarium in which enough water will be combined with stone islands and various vegetation is necessary. The aquaterrarium size and also a ratio of water and sushi in it depend only on the species of crabs chosen by you.
2. The fact is that the crab carries out the most part of life exactly ashore, but not in water. To create optimal conditions of existence for the pet, arrange its dwelling so that the crab without problems could move from a small artificial reservoir to the coast. Over stone islands place a lamp. Crabs love light, you will be able often to watch how your pets willingly visit artificially created "sunbed".
3. As substrate use coarse sand. Constantly humidify it by means of a dropper or the system of "inflow outflow". Thickness of a sandy layer has to be about 5 cm. It is necessary to adhere to the same value also at the organization of a reservoir for a crab. Water in it has to be hard and slightly added some salt. In order that to prepare it, dissolve 1 tsp of sea or table salt and 1 tsp of chloride calcium in 10 l of water.
4. In a reservoir for crabs it is desirable to install the filter. These beings well feel in clear cold water. It is necessary to change 25% of its general quantity weekly. To wash out soil and to purify it from excrements and the remains of food it is necessary every two months.
5. Take care also of a construction of shelters for crabs. These beings persistently assert the right for private life therefore they need the secluded place in which they will be able to hide from public eyes. Ceramic crocks of various sizes and gaps between large stones can play a role of shelters.
6. Concerning food the domestic crabs are unpretentious. The high-quality granulated forage for aquarium fishes can form the basis of a diet. Crabs also will not refuse a gammarus, a crank, a trubochnik and a dry water flea. Diversify food of pets with small cut vegetables, fruit, fish and seafood. Carefully place small pieces of these delicacies before the crabs having a rest on stone islands.
7. If you do not wish to watch periodically "gladiatorial fights" and cruel battles, get one crab. These beings are inveterate individualists therefore alone feel much more comfortably, than in the company of similar. Despite attractive and harmless, at first sight, appearance, crabs are quite aggressive. In the nature between males quite often there are fights for the territory, shelters, females and food. Quite often such fights come to an end with death.
