1. Danio rerio more than 4-6 centimeters do not grow, are very undemanding in contents therefore they well are suitable for those who only learn to look after an aquarium and its inhabitants. The main tone of a small fish silvery with dark bluish strips. Because of characteristic strips the small fish was once called to "ladies' stockings".
2. Pay attention to coloring of fishes. Males danio rerio, as a rule, more brightly. Females more faded, inexpressive. Besides, males are usually larger, their fins are longer. Look narrowly at color of fins, at males they can have noticeable golden coloring. The same concerns dark strips – at females they with a silvery outflow, at males – with golden.
3. Look at a shape of a paunch. Males more harmonious. At females, on the contrary, a paunch roundish. Especially well it is noticeable when fishes bear caviar. During the period before postponement of caviar of a female keep closer to a bottom, can hide from males. If you do not see a difference between small fishes in your aquarium, then or they yet not mature or belong to one floor.
4. Cultivation danio rerio does not represent special difficulties. Only you remember that for an exception of closely related crossing it is necessary to select couples not from one posterity. In practice of it it is possible to achieve, having bought small fishes from different sellers. Do not buy faded fishes, it is one of signs of closely related crossing.
5. At cultivation at first divide males and females, and in several days transplant in a 3-liter jar several couples of fishes, 2-3 females and 3-4 males are better. Lay small-leaved plants on a bottom, press down them stones. From above it is possible to put a plastic grid with a size of cell of 2 mm, it will protect caviar from eating by small fishes. Water level over a grid has to make 5-7 cm.
6. It is better to put small fishes in bank since evening. Deliver to bank so that from the dawn on it beams of the sun got. Spawning, as a rule, happens early in the morning. Right after it small fishes it is necessary to transplant. Lift temperature in bank to 26-28 degrees. Whitebaits appear in a day or two, the first food for them are infusorians.
