From watermelon of people receives a set of useful vitamins and minerals: iron, calcium, copper, zinc, vitamins of group B, A, C, E. As well as tomatoes, in it contain lycopene which helps to struggle with cancer. But whether dogs can eat this berry?
Now many feed the pets with ready-made dry feeds. It conveniently and quickly. It is considered that their structure is completely balanced and developed taking into account needs of animals. But, even if you successfully could choose a forage for the shaggy friend, it all the same needs natural products.
Both advantage, and harm
Some veterinarians consider that watermelon in a diet of dogs is not simply admissible, but is even necessary. Its useful properties extend also to animals who, unfortunately, have many human diseases. So, watermelon can become excellent prevention of diseases of kidneys, it has the expressed diuretic effect. It will help even to wash up from kidneys sand before stones are formed. For the same reason the dog can give watermelon if she has a lock. However at already available chronic diseases of kidneys watermelon, on the contrary, should not be given.
Watermelon almost completely consists of water, but it also contains a lot of cellulose, necessary for dogs. At the same time in watermelon there is a lot of sugar, it is one more reason for which it is necessary to treat with this berry the pet with care. The organism of dogs is not calculated on processing of sugar. But the sweet taste is pleasant to dogs therefore it is possible to indulge a canine friend with watermelon during training at successful performance of a task. Berry can be only encouragement, but not a basis of food in any way therefore the piece has to be small, especially if a doggie of room breed. Is strictly forbidden to give to puppies watermelon.
We feed by rules
Before offering berry to the pet, it should be cleaned from a crust and sunflower seeds – they can be dangerous to digestive tract. And most important: the treat is given between the main meals, it is impossible to mix berry with full-fledged food.
People with suspicion look at early watermelons which appear in shops at the beginning of summer. It is known that they accumulate nitrates, and the berries which appeared on counters before the term put by it are stuffed with chemistry. It is very dangerous to a fragile organism of animals therefore it is possible to treat with berry a dog only that watermelon which you in due form chose for yourself during a season – August and September. But in order that the pet received the maximum quantity of vitamins from food, it is the best of all to give it vegetables, but not fruit. As the reason for that serves the same sugar, and some types of fruit, for example, a citrus, are also strong allergens.
