As on ultrasonography to determine the child's weight

Ultrasonography during pregnancy allows to define whether the kid in a womb of mother what he a floor, and by means of modern diagnostic devices it is possible even to see how he smiles or frowns correctly develops. Besides, by means of the ultrasonic scanner it is possible to learn the estimated weight of the child.

It is required to you

  • Protocol of ultrasonography.

Instruction

1. The ultrasonography main protocol includes a research of situation and presentation of a fruit, heart rate, localization of a placenta, an umbilical cord, internals, possible malformations. Measurements of the head, a stomach, a thorax, bones, hearts, a brain become, then data are checked for compliance to pregnancy term.

2. The body weight of the child is not the obligatory parameter of diagnostics, but, as a rule, the doctor counts it and enters in the protocol. This indicator matters at the solution of a question of conducting childbirth. In particular, if the woman has a narrow basin, and the kid large, perhaps, this fact will be regarded as the indication to Cesarean section.

3. The software of ultrasonic scanners contains various formulas of calculation of estimated weight of a fruit (Hadlock, Merz, Shepard, Warsof, etc.) therefore for the diagnostician it is possible to calculate it. But if the doctor did not determine the body weight of the child, it is possible to make it independently.

4. Depending on the chosen formula the following measurements which are taken surely on each research during pregnancy will be necessary for you: - the bipariyetalny size of the head (BPD – Biparietal Diameter); - a head circle (HC – Head Circumference); - a stomach circle (AC – Abdominal Circumference); - femur length (FL – Femur Length).

5. Calculate the weight of the kid on any of formulas: - Hadlock: log (10)W=1.3596+0.0064(HC)+0.0424(AC)+0.174(FL)+0.00061(BPD)(AC)-0.00386(AC)(FL); - Merz: W=0.1(AC^3) or W=-3200.40479+157.07186 (AC)+15.90391(BPD^2); - Shepard: log (10)W=-1.7492+0.166 (BPD)+0.046(AC) - (2.646(AC+BPD))/1000; - Warsof: log (10)W=-1.599+0.144 (BPD)+0.032(AC)-0.111(BPD^2 (AC))/1000. Symbols: ^ - degree; log(10) is a logarithm; W-Weight is weight.

6. Keep in mind that any method of calculation of estimated body weight of a fruit has a certain error. Formulas Hadlock and Shepard are considered as the most exact, though they allow deviations within 200-300 grams.
