Persecution at school: how to survive among animals

People are beings both social, and biological. Therefore often some of them give vent to the invariable animal instincts. It is reflected both in the relations between adults, and at children. Therefore school persecution - the phenomenon which was and will be.

Psychologists and teachers at conferences and general meetings, bloggers and members of the media for increase in ratings and viewings speak about persecution more often, than those who directly faced it. Meanwhile the victims of persecution often are those children who by the nature are psychologically more vulnerable, than others. Such children often do not have internal resources or internal forces to master aggressive behavior of the schoolmates and all that negative which from them proceeds. 

Mechanism of school persecution 

Persecution is not about when schoolmates few times laughed at the child or argued with him. Persecution is about when the child is purposefully and constantly led up by schoolmates the aggressive behavior. 

Persecution is the peculiar internal device allowing to build the systems of the social statuses in a class and school. The same way the hierarchy of the statuses and in the adult world is built. Difference only in cruelty level. 

The children who are considered themselves by top of hierarchy or the kings and queens operating collective act as aggressors. For them persecution - a way to maintain the authority. As aggressors also asocial children who for any reasons did not fit into collective can act. And persecution for them is a way to occupy the high status, to become these kings and queens. 

4 parties participate in school persecution:

  • victim;
  • aggressor;
  • the children who are witnesses of persecution, but not participating in it;
  • teachers and parents. 

If the first two parties directly participate in school persecution, then the second two by the non-interference are accomplices of this "crime". Often teachers and parents at emergence of such situation or prefer not to interfere, or in every way try not to notice it.  

And meanwhile in many researches the persecution is considered as failure of a school system. This results from the fact that when forming classes only one sign - year of birth is used mainly. Therefore, having appeared in violently imposed collective, children get into an unnatural situation when they have to look for the place in collective and to build the power. 

Persecution consequences 

School persecution has negative effect wherever one wishes, affecting their outlook not in the best way. At the victims signs of alarm, a depression and the self-destroying behavior (anorexia, bulimia, harmful addictions, chaotic sexual communications and suicide attempts) are often observed and also they are ill more often, they reduce educational motivation and desire to attend school. 

Aggressor, feeling the impunity for the organization of persecution of the schoolmates, makes sure that the power is in hands of those who can humiliate. Such children are more often than others show illegal acts. 

The children who are witnesses of persecution often experience fear and shame and also get used to the passive participation in life of society. 

"Life hacks for badgered" 

As the problem of school persecution is often lifted in media, in various sources there was a set various "life hacks for badgered" which not just do not work, but also can result in opposite effect. 

Treat such "layfkakha" "hit back", "do not pay attention", "find the strongest and overcome it", "become the most abrupt", "behave also" and so forth. 

"Experts" from media advise parents "not to pay attention", "let children will understand" or "to go to school and to deal with aggressors". 

Actually each case of persecution is individual therefore there are no universal ways of the solution of this problem. 

About importance of collaboration over a solution 

As it was already noted above, persecution is a failure of a school system. Persecution consequences negatively affect outlook of all children. At emergence of persecution it is necessary to address the class teacher or in administration of school. 

Such problems need to be solved only through joint efforts (children, teachers, parents, administration of school) with involvement of the school psychologist or third-party specialists of psychological service.
