How to define Internet traffic

Information which is transferred on the Internet is called traffic. Traffic of the Internet can be determined not only by amount of information, but also other ways, for example, by special programs.

It is required to you

  • - Comm Traffic utility;
  • - computer with Windows OS.


1. Download the CommTraffic program from the website of the developer and install it according to instructions.

2. Configure network options in the CommTraffic program before beginning work. For this purpose start a setup wizard. Press the Setup button located in the menu then press the Master button located on the page "Network"-> "Master".

3. Make sure that between the CommTraffic Console and CommTraffic Service the connection is established. Then click "Further" in a welcome window and select the correct network configuration in the Setup of Network screen.

4. If your computer is not connected to a local area network and you have a modem (dial-up) connection with the Internet, then select the option "separate computer". If your computer is connected to the Internet through a local area network, then select "This computer enters a local area network". Click "Further" to pass into the screen of the choice of the network adapter.

5. In a drop-down list specify the network adapter for calculation of traffic in the screen of the choice of the network adapter. If you have dial-up connection or you are connected to a local area network via the Ethernet adapter, you will have only one adapter in the menu and you need just to select it.

6. Specify blocks of the IP addresses which CommTraffic will consider as local in the following screen. If your local area network has additional addresses, enter them in a format the network address / a network mask and press the Add button.

7. CommTraffic can define proxy server settings on your computer. For this purpose press the Define button to set these values click "Is ready" to complete setup.
