Activation happens due to introduction of an activation key. It allows to start the protected application only on the computer of the end user. This such peculiar protection of program files against illegal access. As a rule, all bought license products require introductions of a key.
Instruction

Visit the website of the vendor/developer of the program or a game.
2. Enter credentials and be authorized.
3. Find the Receive a Key, Activate, Activation or Help tabs in the menu of the website.
4.
