How to make cranberry jam

Cranberry – one of the most useful wild berries which part the set of useful substances and vitamins is. Thanks to the febrifugal and toning properties it helps with fight against various catarrhal and infectious diseases. And one of ways to keep berry for cold winter evenings – to make cranberry jam.

It is required to you

  • cranberry – 1 kg;
    • granulated sugar – 2 glasses.

Instruction

1. Prepare berries for processing. Touch them, leaving only the ripest and intact. Remove all available branches, leaves and any other garbage. Then carefully wash a baking plate with flowing water.

2. Soften a cranberry. For this purpose put berries in a pan, drench with boiled water and take them in hot water a couple of minutes, then merge boiled water. It is possible to blanch a cranberry and in a different way – to put in a colander and to lower in a pan with the boiling water completely covering berries, also for 2-3 minutes.

3. Let's cool down a little to berries, and then scroll them via the meat grinder. Add sugar to the received weight and carefully stir until it completely is dissolved. That sugar hadn't to be stirred long, it is possible to add instead of it a sugar syrup. Spread out jam on banks.

4. Sterilize banks with jam. Gather in a big wide pan of water, lower open banks there so that the boiling water didn't get inside, and put a pan on big fire. After water begins to boil, make fire less and take banks about 10-20 minutes.

5. While banks undergo sterilization, most it is necessary to make also with covers. For this purpose lower them in the water boiling in separate ware and boil within 10 minutes.

6. Roll up banks boiled covers and put to the dark warm place, having wrapped up with a blanket. In couple of days get them and leave in the dark cool place till winter.

7. The similar way of preparation of jam excludes long heat treatment of berries that allows to keep all vitamins and minerals and also taste and color of a natural cranberry.
