The oil paint is rather universal. It is suitable also for coloring of the big areas, and for decorative works. The mass of factors can influence the speed of its drying.
How many the painted surfaces dry
Oil paints represent mixes of the drying oils made of natural oil or artificial substitute, filler and the painting pigments (there are hundreds of shades of paints). They are used for coloring of wooden or metal surfaces (floors, walls, roofs, doors). The oil paint protects surface from penetration of steam or moisture. For this reason such paint is often used for processing of metal pipes and important structural components of buildings.
How the oil paint chosen by you will quickly dry up, depends on its compounding, humidity and ambient temperature, illumination and other external factors. Oil paint, unlike water emulsion, drying, does not lose moisture which is not just in structure. On its surface, thanks to oxidation processes, there is oil film. That these processes happened quicker, it is necessary to accelerate interaction of the oxygen which is contained in air and the surfaces of paint.
How to paint
Experts advise attentively to study the composition of paint specified on packing. It is considered that really good oil paint contains not less than ten-twelve components.
That formation of steady oil film happened quicker, apply paint with brush or the roller on the surface which is carefully prepared for it. On average the paint applied with thin layer dries about day. If you do not like unevenness of covering or availability of not painted over fragments, after drying of the first layer put one more, it will need on drying slightly more time. To accelerate oxidizing process and formation of resistant film, it is possible to heat the painted surface. For example, some artists after end of pictures dry them by means of normal batteries. Paint drying indoors will accelerate the heater or heater. Heating does film stronger. You should not leave the heater unguarded to avoid risk of emergence of the fire.
If you are going to paint independently walls, floors or ceilings, surely open windows indoors as oil paints are rather toxic, and their evaporations can seriously do much harm to health.
There are chemical accelerators of process of drying of oil paint. For example, it is possible to add to it desiccants (or drying accelerators). Them small amount is required, it is necessary to add desiccants in bank with paint, being guided by the instruction specified on packing. After that the turned-out mix should be mixed very carefully. Desiccants considerably accelerate drying of the painted surfaces, but do not affect quality or density of oil paint.
