Veygela by right is considered one of the best bushes for decoration of sites. But it is possible to achieve abundant blossoming and growth only having provided the correct care, forming of krone and having chosen the right place for its landing.
The one who at least once saw Veygel's bush during blossoming asks question of how to grow up it on the site. To tell that the bush is fine, means not to tell anything – when it blossoms, because of bright hand bells, practically, foliage which, in turn, changes color when changing season is not visible.
What is Veygela
Veygela is garden ornamental shrub from family of honeysuckles. Depending on grade, its height can reach 3 meters, but there are also compact types – not higher than 1 m. Flowers in the form of hand bells up to 5 cm long can be various shades:
- red,
- cream,
- pink,
- white,
Unusual at Veygela and leaves – with velvety surface, quite soft, figured, bright green inside, with red or light pink border at the edges. The shade of border changes, and by fall becomes saturated, bright, is sharply allocated on the general background.
Veygela 25-30 days, approximately since the end of May and till 20-25 date of June blossoms. Then foliage becomes its ornament, but similar changes do not affect charm of this bush in any way. If weather costs warm and in the fall, then Veygela can repeatedly blossom in September, in "Indian summer".
The most popular grades of Veygela among landscape designers, gardeners and summer residents are dwarfish "Coins", it is abundant the blossoming Floribunda, early Praecox, Middendorfa with yellow flowers, resistant to frosts, actively growing in difficult conditions.
Rules of landing and care for Veygela
This bush can be used both in group, and in single landings. Planting of saplings of Veygela to the open ground is admissible only in the spring, in March and April when the soil has already enough got warm, and kidneys on bush have not bulked up yet. If the sapling is bought in the fall, then experts recommend to prikopat slightly its roots under inclination, and then to cover bush completely with the earth and to postpone disembarkation to the constant place of "accommodation" until spring.
When choosing the place for Veygela's landing it is necessary to consider that the bush does not transfer drafts, high humidity, cannot actively grow and blossom on North side of the site. The soil where it will be landed, has to be alkalescent – loamy or sandy, with the high content of microelements and humus. In hole for bush it is recommended to lay drainage layer and to add nitrophoska with compost (100 g on 7.5 kg).
Double blossoming of Veygela is possible only at the correct care for it – watering only at pronounced drying, sufficient and timely mulching, fertilizing by urea, superphosphates and potash mixes in the spring, sulfate potassium and superphosphate in the summer (in June), humus, potassium and superphosphate in the fall, before approach of dormant period.
Veygela's reproduction in house conditions
If reproduction of this bush is supposed, then it is very important to provide its correct cutting during active growth and blossoming, in the spring and in the fall. Triple complex cutting allows to regulate not only growth of bush, but also formation of the fertile escapes suitable for reproduction in house conditions.
It is possible to receive escapes for new bushes of Veygela in four ways:
- cherenkovaniye,
- seeds,
- branches,
- division of bush.
The easiest and widespread way - cherenkovaniye. The green, not stiffened yet branches, minimum with two full-fledged leaves and not less than 10 cm long are used. It is possible to cut off them only the fine, disinfected edge which will exclude splitting of bark and wood. After shank "vylezhka" in the dark place within 12 hours and processing of cut activators of growth it is landed in pot with mix of the earth, sand and peat.
Reproduction by means of division of bush is carried out late fall. Parts of plant trench in the earth, cover and land on the constant place in the spring. Places of cut of roots surely process before laying with crumb or powder of activated carbon.
Branches or seeds experts do not recommend to practice Veygela's reproduction in house conditions. Process very long, beneficial effect cannot be guaranteed if there are no special skills, knowledge and experience.
