The plate is one of the simplest types of ware which even the potter without experience can make. If you want to begin to be engaged in pottery, do not undertake at once big plates because the complexity of their production increases in direct ratio to the sizes. Before work make sure that at potter's wheel there was special lining. Otherwise we risk to leave part of ready plate on circle.
Instruction
1. Let's pass to the process of production of plate, namely, tea saucer – to make it the easiest. In the center of potter's wheel we will lay out disk, small on height, from clay. Its diameter has to correspond to diameter of the conceived saucer. By the way, do not forget about the saucer bottom, it is its most fragile part and special attention has to be paid to its processing. In this place it is necessary for Glyn as it is possible to strengthen better on support and more feasibly to press into it.
2. After clay is pressed to support, we begin to rotate potter's wheel. Slowly rotating it, indicative and big by fingers it is raised from outer edge clay that we created the thick and rounded-off rim. Now compressing clay a little, at the same time we smooth board of saucer and we delay it in the parties. It is better to leave material on this place with stock as later we will not be able to add it any more.
3. And now let's bring our product to the necessary quality. Oval potter's edge we give to plate bottom the necessary form, and before it we do not forget to smooth by means of the curved side of edge the site of clay between bottom and rim. Now supporting by fingers wall from below, we smooth also it.
4. Now it is necessary to cut off saucer from lining. For this purpose it is necessary to wait until clay hardens completely. At will the bottom of our saucer can be issued spiral pattern which is put with edge of potter's edge. On it process of molding is ended. After that the plate needs to be processed, to be exact, to grind to give it absolutely finished look. If who wants, then can it and decorate.
