Spots of rust are one of the steadiest types of pollution. They consist of iron oxides which deeply get into fibers of fabric and destroy them. There are several methods of fight against this type of pollution. Before bringing the spoiled things to dry-cleaner, try to remove rust from fabric independently.
- - iron;
- - lemon;
- - gauze or rag;
- - cotton pads;
- - oxalic acid;
- - acetic acid;
- - baking soda;
- - ammonia solution;
- - 2% solution of hydrochloric acid;
- - hydrosulphite;
- - table salt;
- - powder of wine acid
1. Wet the polluted place fresh lemon juice. Take gauze or fine fabric. Iron spot through fabric. Moisten cotton pad with lemon juice and once again carefully wipe the polluted site. Wash with warm flowing water.
2. Prepare solution of oxalic and acetic acid. For this purpose part on one tablespoon of each medicine in two glasses of water. Place the received liquid in the enameled ware which does not have damages. Bring solution to temperature of 85-90 degrees. Lower the soiled site of fabric in liquid for some time. Carefully wash out in water about addition of baking soda. If necessary, repeat processing.
3. Mix small table salt and powder of wine acid in equal parts. Add a little water that gruel has turned out. Place fabric in the sun and apply the received gruel on the polluted place. After removal of spot rinse in cold water, and then wash in the normal way.
4. For removal of spots of rust from white fabrics it is possible to use 2% solution of hydrochloric acid. Lower the polluted site of fabric in solution and take some time there. After the spot disappears, carefully rinse fabric in water about addition of ammonia solution. Alcohol is added from calculation - 3 tablespoons on 1 liter of water.
5. For removal of spots of rust from color fabrics it is possible to use mix from white chalk and glycerin. Mix glycerin, water and grated white chalk in equal proportions. Rub the polluted site with the received mix and leave for day. Rinse and wash fabric.
6. Prepare hydrosulphite solution - 1 teaspoon of medicine on glass of water. Bring liquid to temperature of 65-75 degrees. Lower the site with rust spot in solution and hold it there within several minutes. Carefully wash out in warm water. It is necessary to consider that this way approaches all-white fabrics since hydrosulphite can decolour coloring.
