What is liquid nails and where they are applied

Every day people use things and do not think at all of as far as they simplify life. For example, the technology of "liquid nails" became known quite recently, but has already gained popularity worldwide. It has facilitated life both builders, and average citizens.

A few years ago mechanical connections – nails, screws, screws were the only opportunity to connect two materials. However not always it was convenient to be made, sometimes these connections did not pass strength tests, sometimes – for a while. Iron has property to rust because of what connection can cease to perform the main function.

Types of "liquid nails"

The main components of "liquid nails" are polymers and rubber. However there are two of their main versions. Part of them is made water-based (so-called water emulsion nails). They are used usually for connection of cellular materials, and they do not guarantee reliable fastening in rooms with high humidity. Neoprene "liquid nails" are suitable for bigger number of works, in their structure the main share is occupied by organic solvent. They have unpleasant smell, can be hazardous to health (so it is necessary to observe carefully safety measures), however guarantee reliable compound practically of any materials.

Application of "liquid nails"

The most important quality of "liquid nails" - universality, they can connect both uniform, and diverse materials. Other important factor – their fastening ability is simply phenomenal. They guarantee reliable connection even at loading of 80 kg/cm².Они are capable to connect such materials as brick, tree, glass, polystyrene, metal, chipboard ceramics and fibreboard. At the same time even if materials leaky adjoin to each other, "liquid nails" are capable to create reliable connection. However you should not use them during creation of aquariums or connections of damp or fresh wood. Though "liquid nails" grab approximately half an hour, full polymerization requires at least 18 hours. Therefore for this time it is necessary to limit physical activity to the place of glued joint. Also it is necessary to know that completely you should not cover one of surfaces, there are enough several glue strips or points.

Shortcomings of "liquid nails"

One of small minuses of application of "liquid nails" consists in their restriction on temperature condition (from-40 to +50os). Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to apply them on frost and if to warm the frozen "liquid nails", then they will lose the efficiency several times. At high temperature they begin to get out of the shape, pass into viscous state. It is not recommended to use "liquid nails" for compound of materials which will be affected by direct sunshine subsequently.
