The ordinary squash is beloplodny kind of zucchini with strongly branching stalk. For the first time it has got to us from Turkey in the 19th century. And as pumpkin in Turkish - kabak, this version began to be called also at us squash. Meanwhile in many European countries all species of squash are called the word of zucchini.
Instruction
1. At normal squash big cutting leaves of green color. The pale brother also is better adapted for temperature drops. Sow him usually at once to the open ground as the dry seeds in the second half of May and which have turned up at the end of May - the beginning of June.
2. Most tasty, of course, young fruits (no more than 20 cm in length), with such it is not even necessary to husk. Also "the fattened bull-calves" if it is correct to prepare them for long storage are good: fruits have to be big, with the thick uninjured skin, with fruit stem not less than 5-7 cm.
3. The great place for landing of squash and zucchini - warm bed or compost heap in which since fall plant debris are put as biofuel. Good predecessors - potatoes, cabbage, onions, tomatoes and bean.
4. Externally differ in more compact bush from the large, carved, not prickly, weak trimmed leaves on long scapes from squash of zucchini, usual for us, sometimes with the silvery or golden drawing. Mainly vertical stalk of plant if polegat, then only at the end of season. Therefore it is much more convenient to look after "Italian", than behind the squash which is far scattering the lashes.
5. From one bush of squash reap the harvest on average to 5-9 fruits, and the bush of zucchini gives up to 15-20 pieces. Big yellow-orange kolokolchaty flowers of zucchini are generally concentrated in bush krone. Men's usually are located bunches, women's - odinochno. As well as at them "the brother's white man", they diclinous are also pollinated by insects (generally bees).
6. However zucchini forms more flowers of female type. Favourably it differs from white squash also early laying of the first fruit. Therefore also the harvest of zucchini is given not only more amicably, but also is 2-4 times more generous. Their cylindrical or spherical yellow, dark green, almost black, striped or motley fruits on brightness of coloring and variety of forms concede, perhaps, only to pumpkin.
7. At zucchini the fruits collect when they are no more than 10-15 more cm, cut off them knife. Ripened have very firm peel and are well stored till new harvest. In decorative kitchen gardens of zucchini fashionable now the place of honor is taken away.
8. On each plant both squash, and zucchinis more fruits are never formed, than it is capable "to support". If in due time not to break zelenets, it will lead to reduction of their quantity. Harvesting is made in the beginning by each 7-10 days. During the high season normal squash collect each 4-5 days, and early zucchinis - each 1-2 days.
9. Before crops it is good to couch seeds of squash and zucchini before emergence of lobe of roots and dark green cotyledons for what they are placed in the low and wide container with sawdust which can be moistened just with water. But the best result turns out if to make it dung water with the boric acid added to it (0.5 g on 1 l of slush). It is necessary to couch seeds on light at temperature of 20-25C. That sawdust did not dry up, capacity should be covered with film.
