The solar eclipse is the phenomenon which occurs when passing the Moon on a disk of the Sun. Process lasts from several seconds to 5 – 7 minutes. It is dangerous to look at a solar eclipse without special protection, for this purpose it is necessary to use some tools.
It is required to you
- - solar filters;
- - field-glass or telescope;
- - dense sheet of white paper;
- - welding glasses.
Instruction
1. First of all, you need to define where there will be the following solar eclipse. It is possible to answer this question, having visited the specialized websites on astronomies which regularly publish information of this sort. Besides, there are special computer programs which allow to calculate the place and time of an eclipse automatically. However such programs need to be chosen attentively, reading responses of its users. Having obtained necessary information, it will be necessary to learn about the weather conditions which are expected in day of an eclipse also. The strong overcast almost for certain will not allow you to observe this phenomenon.
2. Quite large number of people for viewing a solar eclipse choose incorrect tools. There is a mass of such devices, however they are not suitable for these purposes. Never use, for example, any types of points, including sun-protection, polarizing filters, films, field-glasses and telescopes in their usual look, smoky glasses, etc. They block a considerable part of visible light, however ultra-violet and infrared radiations will still pass through them and to do harm to your eyes.
3. The good way to secure the sight is to use special solar filters. They block all harmful radiations and allow to watch a solar eclipse comfortably. It is possible to look at an eclipse and without filter, but only at the time of an absolute covering of a disk of the sun. However the majority of eclipses is partial or incomplete therefore it is preferable to use protection always. It is extremely important to choose correctly the filter for the device which you plan to use (field-glass, the telescope, etc.). The choice of the wrong filter can lead to injury of eyes.
4. Safer way of observation of a solar eclipse is its projection on a white surface. At such way of viewing you do not observe an eclipse directly, and look at its projection. For this purpose it is possible to use the field-glass or the telescope. Take the dense sheet of paper and cut out in its center a circle diameter equal to diameter of an eyepiece, then establish it on an eyepiece. This sheet of paper is necessary for the correct lighting of the screen on which the eclipse will be projected. At distance about 30 cm from an eyepiece arrange the second sheet of white paper, it will serve as the screen. Guide a device lens strictly at the sun, leveling it on the shadow cast on the screen. Having adjusted image sharpness, you will see a solar eclipse on the screen.
5. Welding glasses are also a good way to secure the sight. If you use them, watch that they protected eyes completely. You can also use welding points or masks.
