1. To learn to find in the sky of the constellation, to you, first of all, need the star chart. It is the most convenient to print out it on the sheet of paper that you had it before eyes. There are also computer versions of the star chart, so-called programs planetaria. For example, you can download the free StarCalc program showing the star sky on current or any date necessary to you.
2. Very good version of the star chart is present at the astrological ZET program. You can download free of charge on the Internet its demonstration option, for studying its star sky it is quite enough. It is possible to call this option one of the best in the plan of convenience. Install and start the program, choose in the Screens menu - "Sky". Before you there will be a star chart with the designated constellations, you will be able to turn it the mouse, to increase or reduce scale.
3. Begin studying the star sky with the Pole star. It is a tip of a handle of a ladle of Small Medveditsa. In turn, it is easy to find the Pole star if the ladle of Big Dipper is known to you. Draw a straight line through two stars (α and β Big Dipper), one of which is a handle junction with a ladle, and the second belongs to a ladle bottom. The line needs to be conducted from a ladle bottom. Estimate distance between two specified ladle stars – approximately at five such distances and look for the Pole star. It is very easy to find it: having found this star once, you any more will never lose it.
4. Having studied and having learned to find Big Dipper and Little Dipper, look on the star chart in what place concerning them there is a constellation of Cassiopeia. It is very simple to remember it, it looks in the form of letter W. Closer to the South find constellations of the Taurus and Twins. In the winter the constellation of Orion is very well visible – having seen once, you any more will never forget it. To the left of Orion, in the direction of three stars of his belt, almost at the horizon in the east you will see the well-known Sirius, or an alpha of the constellation of the Big Dog. On other side from a belt of Orion find a star cluster of the Galaxy.
5. In this way you will be able to find also all other constellations interesting you. Remember their arrangement and names of the most known stars. Having spent for studying the star sky several evenings, you will be freely guided in constellations and will be able to tell, as required, about them to your friends and acquaintances.
