How to oxygenate water

How to oxygenate water

Some aquarians are forced to resolve an issue: how to provide small fishes with necessary amount of oxygen? Especially in warm season when the speed of exchange processes sharply increases in the organisms inhabiting aquariums, and concentration of the oxygen dissolved in water, on the contrary, sharply decreases. As fishes have no ability to regulate temperature of the body, in warmer water their metabolism accelerates. How to oxygenate water?

Instruction

1. First of all, make so that at an aquarium in enough there were water plants. There is a lot of them: various ekhinodorusa, kriptokorina, elode, rogolistnik, aponogetona, etc. There is quite enough oxygen emitted to them, as a rule, to provide needs of small fishes, even during a warm season, certainly, provided that it is a little inhabitants in an aquarium. However it is necessary to consider that if plants expand too densely, then there can be also unpleasant by-effects therefore they should be thinned out from time to time.

2. If there are no plants in an aquarium for any of several reasons at all (or them very little) then it is necessary to resort to aeration, that is to compulsory forcing of air in water. For this purpose will be necessary: compressor, rubber hoses and tip spray. Its task is to form at the exit as much as possible bubbles, for increase in contact area of air with water (that as much as possible oxygen passed into water). Therefore the tip is made of the material containing a set of a small time.

3. It is necessary to provide a possibility of adjustment of amount of the given air (for example, during the cold period it is required to fishes much less oxygen, for the reason specified earlier). Therefore or buy the compressor which power can be changed, or get metal clips (better screw) by means of which it is possible "to press" a hose, changing its section.

4. If the aquarium with sea water is required to oxygenate, here one porous tip is already not enough (especially at the large volume of an aquarium). In such cases narrow long tubes - "columns" with a set of small openings, as a rule, are used.
