Volume characteristics of the same objects are defined in the same units, but are measured in three directions. This three-dimensional option of meter is called cubic meter, and units, derivative of it, are cubic decimeters, centimeters, millimeters, etc.

1. Define coefficient for recalculation of the sizes measured in millimeters in cubic meters. Present cubic meter made of millimetric cubes. In each number of such cubes there have to be exactly one thousand (hundred centimeters on ten millimeters in everyone) is the length of cubic meter. In width it is necessary to build one thousand such rows, that is 1000*1000=1000000 (one million) millimetric cubes. And in height one thousand layers one million cubes in everyone will be necessary too. In only one cubic meter one billion (1000000*1000=1000000000) cubic millimeters will be located - it is and there is a recalculation coefficient. For brevity this figure is often written down as 10 in the ninth degree (10 ⁹).
2. You divide the volume measured in cubic millimeters into one billion to learn an equivalent of this value in cubic meters. For example, to the size of 1520 mm³ there will correspond 0.00000152 m³.
3. For practical calculations on paper or in mind just you transfer in initial number a decimal comma to nine categories to the left. It is possible to entrust this operation and to the calculator. For example, to that which is installed in the computer together with the Windows operating system.
