In case selection of a cognate word or placing in a multiple form do not yield result, it is possible to change a word on cases. So, the word "friend", in plural sounds "friends", cognate words "friendship", "be on friendly terms" also cannot serve as check. Therefore it is necessary just to decline a word on cases: Genitive – the friend, Dative – to the friend, etc. Sometimes for check of paired consonants it is possible to use sound interchange ("bird little bird", "birdhouse starling"). Loan words cannot be checked in the above ways ("abstraction", but "to abstract"). In such cases it is necessary to resort to services of dictionaries. The competent written language reflects the level of culture of the person. Not to make simple spelling errors, just it is necessary to repeat school rules of calligraphy sometimes.
