Myths of various people are generous on stories about the huge snakes capable to swallow at one go the person. However zoologists calm people – the vast majority even of large snakes are incapable of such feat. But exceptions also occur among them.
Only really big snakes can apply for eating of a large catch. Today that is one of representatives of family of boas living in South America – an anaconda. The largest caught individual was in length more than eleven meters. However, perhaps, for boas it is not a limit. To measure length of a large snake quite difficult: in the nature the animal is not extended in a straight line, and after death quickly grows numb, and it becomes almost impossible to develop it.
Eyewitnesses told about snakes, of thirty and even forty meters, however these facts cannot be checked.
Methods of hunting of a boa
The boa begins the attack with what sticks teeth into the stood gaping animal. The snake possesses a number of teeth, recurved so to be exempted from the seized reptile not easy. After that the boa clasps with rings the victim and smothers it. Only then the reptile starts eating, opening a mouth against the stop and slowly swallowing production.

Possibilities of a boa are limited to its length, mass and width of a mouth. Attack of a snake of the average sizes can be compared to the attack of a twenty-kilogram dog that is unpleasant, but not deadly incident – the strong man and some women will cope with such opponent. Therefore the main victims of boas appearing in news are children. Even the average sizes the snake is capable to strangle 5-7 summer children and to eat the production if it is allowed by the size of its mouth.

Legends of anacondas, attackers are frequent and the killing adults, however to confirm their reliability very difficult. It is for certain known of murder by a snake of the thirteen-year-old Indian boy. It is quite well-known, though history of four Brazilian fellow who decided to go in the native land to fishing is not confirmed. Having taken with itself tents, rods and a large number of alcohol, men on vacation noticed not at once that they somewhere lost one of the companions. Day of search later they managed to find the remains of clothes of the missing and the huge trace conducting deep into the woods. Having passed on a trace, friends found extremely inflated to a dragon from which they took the disappeared man subsequently. However even if such case really occurred, it is a rare exception.
