Green color of leaves at plants – the investigation of the fact that their cages contain such pigment as a chlorophyll. It absorbs sunlight and synthesizes nutrients for implementation of activity of vegetable life forms.

1. In the fall the situation changes – leaves with the onset of cold weather lose the green color and become yellow, as at a poplar, or red, as at a maple. Chemical reactions which in autumn season proceed in leaves lead to disintegration of a chlorophyll. It is sign that the plant is prepared for winter.
2. The nutrients accumulated in leaves throughout all summer begin the moving to a root, a trunk and branches where remain for the period of cold weather. With approach of heat they will be used for cultivation of new leaves, and so a cycle behind a cycle. After leaves leave all useful substances, in a chlorophyll there will be no sense any more. It will be succeeded by pigments absolutely of other color which will give to foliage a special, autumn coloring.
3. The yellow pigment which succeeds a chlorophyll in leaves of some trees, for example, of a hazel grove or a birch consists of carotene – that pigment which is responsible for orange color of carrots.
4. Other popular coloring of autumn leaves – red. The pigment anthocyanin which paints not only the falling-down foliage, but also red cabbage, a geranium, roses and a radish is responsible for it. Anthocyanin is not similar to yellow pigments, it never contains in green leaves and appears there only as result of the chemical reactions which are caused cold weather and that it occurs not at all trees. As well as color of human hair, a coloring of autumn leaves depends on genetic features of each look.
5. The beautiful autumn coloring can always be explained too. In the most saturated color leaves will possess when there is sunny, dry weather at a temperature from zero to seven degrees of heat - it is ideal conditions for formation of anthocyanin. In rainy and cloudy weather of saturated, red leaves, you should not wait, most likely they will be yellow or brown.
6. With the onset of cold weather the communication between leaves and branches of trees is broken off and they begin to fly under the influence of wind and a rain. By this time trees accumulate enough nutrients to worry winter, and in the spring again to get green foliage. The pigments which replaced with themselves a chlorophyll can keep red and yellow color of leaves several weeks and even longer, but, after all, and they break up. After that in leaves there is only a tannin – connection of plant origin which gives to tea its well-known dark color.
