What is studied by biology? This idle time at first sight can seriously nonplus a question. The biology studies all live and even conditionally live – viruses, bacteria, plants, mushrooms, animals and people. Studies how they arise, are born and die under what laws live. Having comprehended at least a part of these laws, the mankind has an opportunity to manage them, from the consumer turning into the creator.
Always faced mankind and there is a set of the major questions now – as will cope with the incurable illnesses how to win against hunger how to live forever how to breathe under water. How to answer them? Only watching the nature, animals, plants and other organisms it is possible to receive the answer to these questions. For example, in the middle of the last century the separate biological discipline – genetics appeared. It is science about the structure of a gene, a piece of information which is written down on a chromosome as the movie is written down on the CD carrier. The science allows to understand what life expectancy depends on (from the number of times which organism cage will be reproduced) what diseases this individual has (for example, the obesity gene was found) as change of the gene sequence it is possible to enhance any given merits and to remove negative (soy modification – for strengthening of productivity, reduction of term of maturing).
Or, for example, bio-energetics – science about consumption and energy production by living beings. Plants absorb carbon dioxide and make, besides oxygen, a number of energy. With it they are helped by sunlight. Some moments of process of consumption of oxygen by plants it was the basis for development of solar batteries.
Even such habitual and clear branches of biology as botany and zoology brought many treasures in a future moneybox: observation of bats led to echolocation opening (movements on the reflected sounds), observation of dogs – gave a concept of conditioned reflexes which are developed also at the person. The biology helps also with the solution of specific objectives. For example, the task to save mankind from chicken pox was set – and scientists fixedly observed how the disease proceeds whether there are survivors after it and what they differ from the others in. Vaccination – preventive introduction of the weakened bacteria was so open for formation of lifelong immunity. Now biologists of the whole world decide how will cope with cancer, AIDS and others diseases incurable for today. But for biology it is only a matter of time.
