The breast stroke is one of the most ancient ways of swimming numbering several millennia of the history. Certainly, the breast stroke it began to be called not at once. The word of the French origin, appeared in the 20th century and just designated the main way of movement in water by means of the divorce of hands. It is curious that the style was called at the time also "frog" for the similar manner of the movement of hands of the person and paws amphibious and also "Russian" as was characteristic feature of Soviet school of swimming. So, what represents the breast stroke?

1. He assumes horizontal position of the body of the swimmer, on the stomach. The movement is carried out both at the expense of hands, and by means of legs. And they have to move in the certain synchrony.

2. Unlike the crawl or butterfly stroke, body extremities in time the movement don't come to the water surface – they move kind of aside, i.e. waves (or stains) occur in the horizontal plane. The similar way of movement allows to pass rather easily to beginners from swimming "like a dog" to the breast stroke.

3. For the home position it is necessary to extend the body, to bend hands in elbows so that brushes were about the head, and to bend legs in knees: and the foot have to be placed from each other at bigger distance, than knees.

4. Further the divorce hands in the horizontal plane follows: the fungus can be carried out as the palms turned to each other, and turned outside. After the movement of hands the straightening of legs has to follow. As a result for several seconds the body of the swimmer has to be completely extended, including the straightened extremities.

5. Thanks to such breakthrough, the body is capable to move some time, kind of sliding without the aid of new movements. When resistance of water extinguishes the movement of the body, it is necessary to return to the home position again and to repeat the corresponding waves.

6. The head needs also to be held in water, lifting it in that phase when hands after the grebk fall along the body. As a rule, the breath is carried out through the mouth, and exhaled respectively the nose.
