How to grow up broilers

It is possible to grow up broilers on any personal plot on which there is a small utility room. Big money will hardly manage to be earned from cultivation of this breed of hens, but to provide itself and the family useful, dietary meat it is quite real.

Why broilers?

To grow up two-three dozen broilers, it is enough to have on hand the utility room of 4-5 m in size². For cultivation during the winter period such room should be warmed, using, for example, mineral wool. In the summer the shelter does not need additional warming.

For cultivation of laying hens, besides the shelter, it is necessary to equip the place for their daily walks, in a case with broilers the existence of additional walking is not obligatory, moreover – it is not recommended. The main rule of the poultry breeder sounds approximately so: the less broiler moves, the quicker grows.

At qualitative and intensive food the broiler grows really quickly and at the age of 2 months gains 3-4 kg of weight. For comparison – chicken layer at the same age weighs only 500-600 g. Regarding expenses on food, a broiler too in a prize as on 1 kg of an additional weight this wonderful bird needs 3-4 kg of compound feed, to chicken of other breed – 8-9 kg.

Features of cultivation

For cultivation the bird at daily age is usually bought at all seasons of the year, however it is possible to buy also slightly grown up chickens. The first two weeks of life – the most important for broilers therefore during this period they need a special care. Little chickens very much are afraid of cold therefore it is necessary to support them in the warm place, using a cardboard box. It is possible to warm babies with a usual lamp, having suspended it at distance of 25-30 cm from a box. Chickens have to receive heat round the clock. At the earliest age of broilers it is necessary to feed with the crushed egg or cottage cheese, but it is possible to use already ready-made feeds – so-called compound feed for chickens. Also it is necessary to take care of that the bird always had an access to clear and fresh water. To save a livestock from possible diseases, in particular digestive tract diseases, at the age of 3 weeks of chickens it is necessary to give to drink weak solution of potassium permanganate. In 3-4 weeks this procedure should be repeated. It is desirable to feed the grown-up broilers with ready-made feeds. In three-four weeks prior to a face (age 2 months), it is necessary to enter the crushed corn grain into a forage, gradually increasing its dosage. For few weeks to a face it is possible to refuse in general compound feed and to transfer chickens to natural grain. It is noticed that the carcass of the broiler eating corn has a saturated and appetizing yellowish shade.
