Since ancient times cultivation of quails is considered fascinating and interesting occupation. About two hundred years ago cultivation of these birds widely began to extend in Japan, however in Europe are engaged in it not so long ago.

1. Japanese quails. This breed of birds is the most widespread and famous around the world. The Yaytsenoskost of the Japanese quails makes up to 300 eggs a year. Females of this breed weigh up to 150 grams, and males – up to 120 grams. The Japanese quails I begin to put eggs at 45-day age. One egg of representatives of this breed of quails weighs up to 15 grams.
2. English black quails. This breed of birds arose because of mutations of the Japanese quails. The main difference English of black quails from the Japanese consists in their black plumage diluted with a brown shade. It is curious that the mass of their body exceeds weight Japanese for 8%. In one year of cultivation it is possible to receive up to 280 eggs from the English black quails. The mass of a female of this breed of birds reaches 200 grams, and a male – 170 grams.
3. English white and marble quails. In principle, the breed of the English white quails is an analog of breed of the English black quails. The difference between them is only in purely white plumage. These birds are similar in all other parameters with each other. And here the breed of marble quails is a kind of the Japanese birds. In principle, except the marble coloring they differ in nothing from the primary source.
4. Smokingovye rehashed. This breed of birds belongs to myasoyaichny. Smokingovy quails appeared as a result of crossing of white and black birds. The body weight of these creations is much less, than at English, and a yaytsenoskost – to 270 eggs in a year. The main distinctive sign of smokingovy quails is a peculiar color of plumage: the head, a neck and the lower part of a trunk – white, and the top part – dark with a brownish shade.
5. Pharaohs. One more myasoyaichny quail breed – Pharaohs. However these birds are in broad demand in meat area: the sizes of adult individuals are quite big. The mass of an adult female reaches 300 grams, and an adult male – 270 grams. Representatives of this breed of quails postpone until 220 eggs a year. The weight of one egg can reach 18 grams.
6. Kaytavers and Manchurian golden. Kaytavers it is considered the Estonian breed of quails. Her representatives are famous for excellent qualities: first, their yaytsenoskost makes more than 300 eggs in one year, and secondly, the mass of an adult female reaches 210 grams, and an adult male – 180 grams. And here representatives of Manchurian golden breed of quails concede to "allies" a little: the mass of an adult female – up to 180 grams, and a male – up to 160 grams. Their yaytsenoskost makes 290 eggs a year.
