How to answer questions of the child

Children's questions sometimes annoy adults, sometimes seem inappropriate, difficult, untimely. But it is necessary to answer them – only this way it is possible to keep sufficient degree of trust and openness in communication with the kid.

Instruction

1. Attentively listen to a question. Specify that the child wants to learn to answer his question most precisely and specifically.

2. Sometimes, that children ask questions, the answer to which is already approximately known: thus they want to check themselves and somewhat competence of the adult. Try to find out that the child thinks about it, listen to his "versions" and explanations. Perhaps, the child himself will be able perfectly to explain everything or will make it with your help. Do not forget to praise the kid when it turns out that he reached everything – it is so important for his self-assessment.

3. If the question concerns the area really not clear to the kid, try to answer a question with simple words. You should not be let in long scientific explanations – the child will hardly acquire them. Give examples from life better, illustrate the answer with the description of the phenomena familiar to the child.

4. If the question concerns something that can be shown, but not to tell – remember that performing practical operations, the person acquires information easier and stronger and gains necessary skills. So, if the daughter asks how to make salad, it is better to suggest to make it together, therein giving necessary explanations, than to long paint technological subtleties.

5. Answer honestly even "inconvenient" questions – your lie eventually will become known to the child, and the confidence to you the little person will be undermined.

6. If you do not know the answer to a children's question, honestly admit it: there is nothing shameful that the person, even such adult and clever as you does not know something. It will be a good occasion to look for the answer together with the child in the encyclopedia, in the dictionary, on the Internet – the child will receive skill of information search, besides you together will broaden the horizons.

7. If the difficult question and the answer to it demands preparation, honestly tell the child that you need to choose suitable time and the place to answer it rather fully, in detail and quietly, to find additional information, etc. Do not forget to keep the promise at the first opportunity!

8. Dose information according to age and development of the child. So, on the question "From Where Children Undertake" or "Why during a Thunderstorm the Lightning Sparkles" the answer for the preschool child or for the younger school student will be a miscellaneous: the last can give fuller and detailed information, to give scientific explanations in an available form, and the kid will be satisfied with the most general answer.
