How to allow network access

How to allow network access

If the computer is connected to a local area network or possesses the static IP address, then the user can open network access to the resources. For this purpose in the beginning it is necessary to perform tuning of a security system to protect information from illegal access, and only after that to allow access to folders and disks.

Instruction

1. Customize the operating system for providing access on a local area network. Many consider that it is enough to disable a firewall, to include function of "Guest" and to allow it access. In such a way you, of course, will give an opportunity to use your documents from other computers, however at the same time there is no protection against malefactors who can delete or damage important data.

2. Come into the Start menu and select the section "Control panel". After that pass to properties of a firewall and note a tick the General Access to Files and Printers point. As a result you will open access to UDP 137-138 and TCP 139, 445 ports. As a rule, this function joins automatically, but it is better to execute it independently further to exclude the policy of a firewall from possible errors.

3. Come into the section "Installation and Removal of Programs", select the Windows Components item and pass to "Network services". Click "Structure" and note a tick the Peer-to-peer network point that by default the operating system looked for the general printers and folders in network. After that open properties of network connection and check that "The service of the general access to files and printers" is active. Thus, you exclude all possible errors at permission of network access to your resources.

4. Select the folder to which you want to open access. Remember that in network you can spread only folders or disks. It is not recommended to open access to the last if you are not sure of users of your local area network. Right-click on the folder which you want to open.

5. Select the Properties item. Go to the Access tab in the opened window. Press the General Access button. Select a user name from a drop-down menu and click "Add". In the graph "Level of Permissions" you can set access parameters. Click "General Access" and confirm operation.
