How to turn off indexing

How to turn off indexing

It is possible to improve high-speed performance of a system in different ways – for example if your computer has small random access memory capacity, it is possible to accelerate and optimize its work, having disconnected not used Windows services. One of such services is indexing – having turned off it, you can accelerate to some extent work of the operating system to the detriment of the speed of work of the built-in system of search. Indexing can both be turned off, and to change its parameters.

Instruction

1. Open Start-up and open the section of "Service". If you do not know where it is, in the search string of programs and files enter the word of "Service" and click search. Open the found section the right mouse button, and in a context menu select "Start on behalf of the administrator".

2. If the system demanded the password to the account of the administrator, enter it. Thumb through down the list of services which opened in a new window, and find the Windows Search parameter influencing indexing of content of the computer and a search Windows service.

3. In a status bar to the right of service it has to be written "Works". In the Action menu select the Properties item, and then in a properties window on the General tab click "Stop". There will be a list of the offered actions from which it is necessary to select "Manually", or "Is disconnected". Click OK to apply changes.

4. After that close a window of services and open "My computer". Select all disks installed on the computer – both local, and removable, and right-click on everyone, having selected Properties.

5. In the lower part of a properties window you will see the line "Allow to Index Contents of Files on This Disk in addition to Properties of the File".

6. Remove the tick standing at this line and then click OK. Make it in properties of all disks, applying changes to a disk and to all attached to folders and to files. Click OK. If desired you at any time can include indexation, having returned all parameters to an initial status.
