How to weigh flour

Flour – a basis for preparation of the most various dishes. The compounding of preparation demands the exact weight of ingredients as surplus or shortcomings of any given product can irrevocably spoil food. It is possible to measure flour in house conditions in several ways.

It is required to you

  • - kitchen scales;
  • - volumetric glass;
  • - tablespoon;
  • - thick glass tumbler.

Instruction

1. The fastest and reliable method of measurement of weight is weighing by means of kitchen scales. They can be mechanical and electronic. The last option is more exact and allows to determine product weight up to 0.1 grams. As flour leaves behind white traces, it is necessary to weigh it in a plastic bag, or in a container, without having forgotten to subtract its weight from the total weight at the same time.

2. One more popular way of measurement of bulk stocks is use of special volumetric glasses. They represent transparent tanks with the put marks about the weight of various products. It isn't necessary to sift flour before you determine its weight by a volumetric glass or kitchen utensils. The sifted flour occupies much bigger volume, and the obtained data will be inexact.

3. If neither kitchen scales, nor a volumetric glass near at hand appeared, it is possible to weigh flour by means of usual ware. It is convenient to measure small portions by spoons. For this purpose scoop flour a tablespoon and accurately shake it that there was only small "hill". The standard tablespoon contains in itself 25 g. In a teaspoon 10 g of flour are located.

4. It is easier to measure more impressive volumes of flour by means of a glass. Take a usual thick glass tumbler and fill it with flour. It is better to fill flour a tablespoon, so it won't be stamped and will evenly be distributed on all capacity. The glass of 250 ml filled to the top rim contains in itself 160 g of flour. If to fill it level with edges – weight will be 180 g.

5. It is also possible to determine the weight of a large amount of flour, using the following reception. When you need to receive flour half a kilogram, you divide "approximately" a standard 2-kilogram pack into two equal parts. And after that you divide one more part into halves. Of course, this way is quite approximate, and it is expedient to apply it to measurement only of large portions of flour.
