Potatoes: harm or advantage for a human body?

There is an opinion that consumption of dishes from potatoes it is worth being afraid not to gain excess weight. Often this vegetable is perceived as something harmful to an ogranizm of the person. In practice all absolutely in a different way.

Than potato is harmful?

Scientists established that 100 grams of potatoes provide about 70-80 calories most of which arrives from carbohydrates (more precisely — starch). Potatoes contain from 1.5 to 3 grams of food fibers.  Many in a false manner consider a large amount of carbohydrates in potatoes by threat of emergence of excess weight.

But it is a mistake as starch in itself doesn't harm a figure at all. Only  in combination with fats it begins to be transformed and do harm ( the same treats such food as rice or noodles). The protein which is contained in potatoes isn't especially useful due to the lack of amino acids, but has rather high biological value. 

Thus, potato can do harm only in one case - if to take it in food along with fats (fatty meat, fat, etc.)

What it is useful to eat potato with?

It is useful to combine potatoes with other food, for example, with vegetables and a lean meat. This not only fine dietary food, but also real treasury of vitamins and minerals. Potatoes provide rather large amount of B1, B5, B6, PP, C vitamins. Is also a source of minerals: potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, copper, manganese and zinc. It is also possible to refer to useful properties of potatoes that it:

  • promotes a lowering of arterial pressure,
  • regulates an alimentary system and intestines in particular, 
  • helps to bring excess water out of an organism,
  • improves a condition of skin,
  • improves blood clotting,
  • reduces a stress.
