Gal potatoes: description of grade and agricultural technician of cultivation

Many centuries Russians consider potatoes the second bread, and its grade "Gala", by right, also dietary product. The majority prefer to grow up it by own efforts, on the sites or kitchen gardens, the agrotechnology of work with it is simple and does not demand availability of special skills.

Modern summer residents and gardeners try to choose qualitative seeds of any vegetables, and especially potatoes. Preference is given to high-yielding, frost-resistant grades, with the minimum tendency to diseases and rotting, good tastes and lezhkost. All these characteristics are answered by Gal potatoes, quite "young", removed in the 21st century by the German selectors, widespread in northern and central regions of the Russian Federation.

Description of potatoes of grade of "Gal"

Gal potatoes belong to early ripening grades of culture – technical maturing of tubers occurs for 65-70 days after landing. Each bush yields, at least, 25 fruits of various size. Other characteristics of grade of "Gal":

  • bush height moderate, raskidistost average,
  • large leaves, juicy-green, slightly wavy, stalks brightly green,
  • the bush white buds of mean value blossoms,
  • fruits round or slightly extended, with yellow pulp,
  • the dense fibrous structure of tubers when cooking does not darken and keeps density.

Abrasive paper at fruits of Gal potatoes rather dense, smooth, light yellow, with small and not too profound "eyes". Starch percentage in their pulp fluctuates from 11 to 12%. It can grow in the soil of any type, with guaranteed high productivity. In leaving and to requirements to landing terms the grade is unpretentious. At storage the tastes of Gal potatoes do not change. Thanks to the fact that very low, tubers diabetics and those who lose weight can include starch content in food allowance in unlimited number or just keep the figure.

Agrotechnology of cultivation of Gal potatoes

Agricultural technicians recommend to choose for landing of potatoes of grade the "Gala" peat, chernozem, loamy or sandy soil with low acidity. Can point out low acidity that on the site dandelions, clover or wild camomile grow actively.

The site is recommended to be plowed not only in the spring, before landing of potatoes, but also in the fall, after harvesting. It not only will provide healthy nutrition and "rest" of soil, but also will help to reduce activity of growth of weeds on the site. During autumn plowing it is possible to introduce to the soil fertilizers at the rate on 1 sq.m:

  • compost – 5-7 kg,
  • superphosphate – up to 40 g,
  • potassium sulfate – 15 g.

If acidity of the soil high, then time in 2 years it is possible to bring as fertilizer with functions of its regulator chalk – 0.5 kg on 1 sq.m. During spring plowing or redigging of the site bring also 20 g of ammonium nitrate.

Integral tubers weight up to 100 g, without signs of decay, with the turned-up "eyes" are suitable for landing. If tubers are not enough, then they can be cut, but taking into account that on each piece there were 1-2 arisen "peepholes".

Depth of poles for laying of tubers of Gal potatoes has to be about 10 cm, distance between bushes – not less than 50 cm, row-spacings from 80 to 90 cm wide. The filled-up holes surely water at the rate of 1 liter of water on hole. The grade of "Gal" can be processed before landing by the structures protecting from diseases and wreckers.

After shoots care for grade normal – timely watering during the droughty periods and fertilizing by fertilizers with nitrogen, earthing up, regular weedings.

How to store potatoes of grade "Gal"

Fruits differ in high lezhkost therefore there are no special requirements to conditions of their storage. The room of cellar where they will be put, has to be aired, be well rather dry. On storage put only integral, qualitative tubers, without symptoms of diseases and decay. During the storage period potatoes are regularly shifted, throw out fruits with signs of damage. It is especially important to check carefully the tubers postponed for the following landing.
